I’m the lead vocalist of Yavuz Akyazıcı Project – Turkish Standards Vol. 3 — one of the most streamed Turkish jazz albums to date. Singing these reimagined classics has connected me with a devoted jazz audience who values both novelty and soul.
During the pandemic, I began writing my own songs — a quiet but defining shift. Most are in Turkish, and they live somewhere between humor and melancholy, drawing from urban life with a poet’s eye and a playful spirit. Two of them, Günlerden Pazar and Aşk Olsun, found their way onto Spotify’s editorial playlists.
Being on stage and singing feels like the truest thing I know. That’s how I make sense of the world.
